Le Veau d’Or, a true Rouen institution founded in 1948 by the Letessier family, has preserved the authenticity of traditional French cuisine for more than seventy years. Originally located opposite the former slaughterhouses, it welcomed cattle dealers who chose their livestock before sharing dishes such as tripe or veal head—a tradition that continues today every third Thursday of the month at 9 a.m. As the regional headquarters of the renowned Tripière d’Or fraternity, the restaurant is recognised as a leading destination for meat and offal, particularly thanks to its famous gribiche sauce. While honouring this heritage, the current team also offers more contemporary dishes crafted from the house’s signature products, complemented by a carefully selected wine cellar. Led by Babeth and Stanislas Bretagne, the team strives to deliver a warm, generous experience for group meals, family gatherings or professional events. The restaurant can also be privatised, even outside normal opening days, to extend the convivial spirit that has defined Le Veau d’Or since 1948.
